Club History

The Blunham Playing Field Association originally looked at the return of Youth Football, in order to utilise the facilities all year round.

The Blunham Cricket Club already used the village’s fantastic facilities during the “Summer” months and football seemed to be the obvious choice for the cold “Winter” months.

This idea became an advert, duly displayed on the BPFA website. This was to see if it was viable, for someone to step forward, who had the knowledge and was willing to create a football club from scratch, with support of the BPFA.

The advert was answered in April 2013 and very quickly the idea, the advert, became realisation!

Initially 1 team at Under 12, but with volunteers and after trials, this soon became 3 teams, with the forming of our Under 8 and Under 10 teams.

Blunham Youth FC had been born. Youth football in Blunham and the surrounding villages had risen from the ashes.... Hence our club badge!

All our teams are registered with the Bedfordshire Football Association and playing in the Chiltern Youth Football League and the Bedfordshire Mini Soccer League.

A recent addition to the clubs set-up, is a 2nd Under 10's team, presently playing friendly fixtures against other U9 and U10 teams.

The future development of Blunham Youth FC is an open book.

We are looking towards funding, via grants, to ensure our coaches gain the respected “Level 1 Coaching Qualification in Football” the minimum requirement.

Once these are in place, we will endeavour to approach the Beds FA, in order to apply for Chartered Standard status.

For now...The club, the players and parents, spectators alike are all looking forward to their first season. There is anticipation, in trepidation and wonderment as to what lies in store.

We have already achieved so much, in a short space of time. Whatever we achieve in the future, is a bonus and will be gratefully received, with humility.

As long as we remain true to the clubs motto, we shouldn’t go far wrong!!

“We come not to play. We come to win. We play to the best of our ability, with full commitment by no foul means. We accept defeat graciously and remain humble when victorious”
